Last week, Iceland was the guest of honour at the Abu Dahbi International Book Fair. The Arabian publisher, HUDHUD publishing, has bought the rights to five of the Monster books by Icelandic Áslaug Jónsdóttir (who is also the illustrator), Swedish Kalle Güettler and Faroese Rakel Helmsdal. “The main characters in the book series run into various troubles and disagreements but they always manage to find a joint solution, and children seem to relate to these stories”, says Áslaug Jónsdóttir. The Monster books are now available in 14 different languages.
