The new novel by author Jóanes Nielsen is called "Bommhjarta" (Candy heart). It is a sequel to his novel “Brahmadellarnir” (2010) for which Nielsen was awarded the Faroese Literature Prize (2011) and nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize (2013). Most notably, the "Brahmadellarnir" was published by Random House in Germany in March 2016 under the title ”Die Erinnerungen”. It has been a productive year so far for Nielsen as his play “Havfrúgvin” was premiered at the National Theatre in September.
“Bommhjarta” is a continuation of the story about Tóvó who has been released from prison for crimes he committed in the previous novel. The story moves back and fort in time but spins around Tóvó and his hometown Sumba. In a letter to his mother Tóvó writes: "Nobody says life is easy but sometimes I wonder if it is worth it having to scratch, crawl and cry through maybe eighty years and in return get a shovel of mud on my face". The story about Tóvó is full of violence, desire, love, malice and other components of life.
