New in Denmark

The Danish publisher Forlaget Bolden has just released the illustrated children's book "Abbi og eg og abbi" in Denmark. It is a beautiful and heart-warming story about a boy and his grandfather who is in the early stages of dementia. The two of them feed the ducks and they laugh a lot because the grandfather is good at telling stories and saying funny things. But one day the grandfather doesn't laugh, and the boy senses that something has changed. The story is written by Dánial Hoydal and Annika Øyrabø has made the paper-cutting illustrations and translated into Danish. The book won them the Westnordic Council Children and Youth's Literature Prize in 2021 and was also nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature Prize this year.
