Silja Aldudóttir published her first book in 2022 - Ódjór (Monster). Now the Swedish publisher Opal has bought the rights to Ódjór and will publish the book.

Ódjór is about beasts who live among us and inside us. People in town experience floods and earthquakes but nobody knows why. From her secret tree, the girl Asta sees rats race around in the grove. Asta imagines the roof of the school smashing down on all of them. Underneat the tarmac and concrete a beast is treathening to destroy the whole town. And one day Asta finds herself face to face with the beast.

The horror novel is for children age 10-13. The novel is illustrated by artist Bárður Dal Christiansen and published by BFL.

The book is among FarLit’s selected titles from 2023 including a sample translation. Let us know if you want to know more.
