Debut Novel by Katrin Ottarsdóttir

For many years Katrin Ottarsdóttir was a pioneer in Faroese filmmaking. In 2012 she added to her artistic output by publishing an award-winning debut poetry collection "Eru koparrør í himmiríki". The collection was groundbreaking in the sense that it was probably the first publication in to give such a blunt, strong and yet sensitive portrayal of a childhood in a dysfunctional family in the Faroe Islands. The poetry collection has since been published in Denmark and the US. Now Katrin Ottarsdóttir has just published her debut novel "Gentan í verðini" (The Girl in the World). The story is about a lively and curious little girl who goes to visit her grandparents in a small town. The story is written from the girl's perspective, and the reader is invited to make own interpretations and assumptions. The novel is published by Sprotin.
