New in Greece

Beinir Bergssons’s critically acclaimed poetry collection “ The Sun Garden” has now been published in Greece by Vakxikon.

"Sólgarðurin" (The Sun Garden) is both a tangible and imagined place where the reader meets the grandparents of the narrator and a great variety of plants, vegetation and tender moments longing for brighter days. The narrator reflects on the loss of the father and on erotic love between two men. The poems travel back and forth in time and the atmosphere is peaceful and sincere but with a sense of longing for dear ones who have passed away.

"Sólgarðurin" is the Faroe Islands’ first explicit collection of queer poetry, and Beinir uses a variety of literary nature that is new to the Faroe Islands. The poems are juxtaposed with youthful, unabashed sexuality, and melancholy reminiscence.

“Sólgarðurin” is Beinir Bergsson’s second poetry collection. It was originally published by Eksil in 2021 and it is also published in Denmark by Arena in translation by Erik Skyum-Nielsen.
