New Debate book about Abortion
Last week Sprotin published a debate book about abortion in the Faroe Islands: “Abort - grundgevingar fyri rættinum at velja sjálv”. The book consists of articles by writers who in some way have participated in the abortion debate in the Faroe Islands and is edited by Turið Hermannsdóttir, ph.d. in anthropology and Turið Nolsøe, ph.d. in rhetoric.
Abortion is illegal in the Faroe Islands but a new law proposal was presented to the parliament last week. The current law is from 1956. Abortion is a therefore currently a big theme in the public debate. The book is breaking taboos about abortion in it’s thorough discussion of the topic.
