First Faroese crime TV series based on novels by Jógvan Isaksen
Trom is the name of an eight-episode television crime series which will be the very first television crime series originating from and set in the picturesque Faroe Islands. Trom is based on Jógvan Isaksen’s crime novels about the journalist Hannis Martinsson. Screenwriter Torfinnur Jákupsson has adapted four of Isaksen's crime novels for television; "Blíð er summarnátt á Føroya landi" (1991), "Gráur oktober" (1994), "Krossmessa" (2005), and "Norðlýsið" (2009). In the series journalist Hannis Martinsson investigates the murder of an animal rights activist, found floating in the bloody waters of a whale killing. Martinsson risks his own skin on the trail of a spectacular story, sending shock waves through the isolated island community, where every friend has suddenly become a suspect. Parts of the rights have already been bought by such giants as German/French TV station ZDF/Arte and the streaming service Viaplay.
