Sólrún Michelsen (1948) made her debut in 1994 with a short story collection for children, and has published generously since for children and adults in different genres. She has won several Faroese awards and was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2015. Sólrún’s books have been published in Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Ethiopia and the UK. Sára Malena is her latest novel.

In 2004 Sólrún published her first book for adults, Tema við slankum, for which she was awarded the Faroese M.A. Jacobsen Literary Award. Her novel Hinumegin er mars was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2015. In 2016 Sólrún published a poetry collection Ein farri av fráferð and in 2017 one of her short stories Some People Run in Shorts was selected for the Nordic anthology The Dark Blue Winter Overcoat edited by Icelandic poet Sjón and published by Pushkin Press. The same story was also printed in the new literary magazine Boundless for its launch on 4 December 2017.  Ein táttur er silvur published in 2019 is Sólrún’s first novel in a family saga trilogy. The second novel in the series, Ein annar er gull was published in 2020, and the third and final novel Fáur fær tráðin heilt slættan was published in 2021.
