New Novel by Sólrún Michelsen

On December 3 the new novel by Sólrún Michelsen, "Ein annar er gull" (Another is Gold), will be released. The novel is a sequel to the critically acclaimed novel "Ein táttur er silvur" which was published last year. The main characters and events in both novels are based on real-life events. In her new novel Sólrún portrays the harsh everyday life conditions of families in the early 20th century whose livelihoods were based on the unpredictable fisheries and how they are faced with disasters like the Spanish and TB. Sólrún describes the lives and fortunes of the characters as well as the emotional and moral conflicts of marriage. What happens in a common sense marriage when true love and erotic attraction all of a sudden appears? Is it possible to be a true woman, wife and mother if you fall in love with another man whilst your husband is bedridden? These are some of the threads of gold woven into Sólrún Michelsen's new novel published by Sprotin.
