"GUDAHØVD" by Jóanes Nielsen
"Gudahøvd" is the title of the 10th poetry collection by Jóanes Nielsen and has just been released by Mentunargrunnur Studentafelagsins. There are 38 poems in the book, and the cover and illustrations are made by Faroese artist Rannvá Holm Mortensen. In a review, art critic Kinna Poulsen writes: "Jóanes Nielsen is an excellent poet. His poems are like tiny, dense novels which give the readers a glimpse of the plot, of great thinking and whole centuries whilst the people are remarkably present in time and place". Furthermore, Kinna writes: "The poems are small tales about life and have an existiential approach; we read about the small bird from Norway getting its deathblow in Norðdepli, about growing loneliness, and the many waiting rooms where we wait for new organs, cookies or just death".
