Last novel in Family Saga by Jóanes Nielsen
"½ máni ½ sól" is the name of Jóanes Nielsen's fourth and last novel in the family saga about Eigil Tvibur. Eigil now lives in Copenhagen together with Marianna but has kept his old apartment in which he wrote his other three novels.
The story begins when Marianna's daughter, Hildegard dies in childbirth. At her funeral people talk about how Eigil helped her out of prostitution and drug addiction in Copenhagen. His efficient help has serious consequences because one day Eigil finds his apartment smashed into pieces and those responsible are from the drug environment in Copenhagen which means that Eigil is now a hunted man. Eigil and Marianna decide to move to the Faroe Islands with the newborn orphan.
The first novel "Brahmadellarnir" in this Nordic family saga starts with the measles outbreak in 1846 and the fourth and last one, "½ máni ½ sól" ends in 2021 with the Covid-19 pandemic.
"½ máni ½ sól" is published by Mentunargrunni Studentafelagsins.
