New Short Story Collection

The short story collection "Søgur úr býnum" (Hearsay from town) by Jón Thorsteinsson was published late 2019 and features 11 contemporary stories which take place in a small city similar to Tórshavn. The themes vary in character and mood, and the main characters in the stories come from different walks of life, and some of them appeare in more than one story. They are faced with different challenges in their relationships with others, some of which are beyond their control. The plots are realistic and simple, and some of the stories are grave while others are more satirical, however, as one of the readers has pointed out "there is a constant undercurrent". Another common denominator is that they take place in a small and somewhat isolated society in which social proximity is part of everyday life, and wanderlust a part of the dna.
