Silja Aldudóttir in Estonian and Swedish

Silja Aldudóttir in Estonian and Swedish

Silja Aldudóttir’s debut YA novel Ódjór (en. Beast) from 2022 is now available in Estonian and Swedish. The Estonian translation Elukas by Andry Arro is published by Norður, and Opal has published Anna Fohlin Mattsson’s translation into Swedish entitled Odjur. Silja’s book was also published in Norwegian earlier this year.

The story is about beasts who live among us and inside us. Townspeople experience floods and earthquakes, but not one person knows why. From her secret tree, Asta observes rats racing around the park. Asta imagines the roof of the school smashing down on all of them. Underneath the tarmac and concrete, a beast is threatening to destroy the whole town. And one day Asta finds herself face-to-face with the beast.

The horror novel is for children aged 10-13. The novel is illustrated by artist Bárður Dal Christiansen and published by BFL.
