Vármjólk: New Poetry Collection
In 2018 Rannvá Holm Mortensen was awarded the M.A. Jacobsen Literature Award for her debut poetry collection "Sólsmakkur", and yesterday, on the International Women's Day 8 March, she published her second poetry collection "Vármjólk". Rannvá Holm Mortensen is a visual artist and has worked as such for many years, and it's not until recently that she has decided to make her poetry public.
At a release event, it was mentioned that the new collection touches upon more universal and existential issues than the previous collection, and that biology, body and primal energy have pushed aside themes that were related to tangible places, travel, and social institutions in "Sólsmakkur".
The cover and illustrations are made by Rannvá Holm Mortensen herself, and the book presenter admitted that, "the illustrations made such an impression on me that I had to stop and take a few deep breaths in order to not lose my breath. The words and imagery landed on my shoulders and arms, then gently travelled under my skin, crawled into my veins, and finally moved into my heart. I'm not sure I understood everything, but I sure felt everything". "Vármjólk" is published by Sprotin.
